**Long review alert** I recently had the pleasure of experiencing stellar service at Safford Brown Mazda in Alexandria, and I can't say enough good things about my visit. Staff is friendly enough (Jimmy) and follow-up staff (Robert) as well. Robert insists that it is standard practice among all car dealerships to charge extra fees for shop supplies and document retention. In my case these fees were $1.91 and $17.73 respectively. It feels like junk fees, basically part of overhead. Not sure whether all dealerships in fact add such fees. I hope this dealership and others (if others do it) reconsider charging what feels like junk fees. I caution anyone buying a used vehicle from here. The service department does not care about safety and quality. I’m from PA and after receiving my registration, a PA inspection was arranged that showed thousands of dollars of work that needed done to pass a similar inspection. That doesn’t make sense. Even down to leaving after buying and there was no inspection sticker on the windshield and then after getting that put on. I then left again to find the hood was not properly latched. I purchased a 2020 Maza CX-5 two years ago from Brown's Alexandria Mazda and was very pleased with the interaction and their "no hard sell" approach. I purchased my car at a price that put the purchase in the top 20% percentile for an excellent price within the local area. My experience was less than desirable. I purchased a used car from the dealership that I assume had been traded in. An agreement was made that certain items would be repaired on the vehicle if I purchased it. I do not feel that any urgency was placed on having the repairs completed although I had completed my part of the agreement as planned. I took my 2017 CX-3 Mazda in for routine maintenance and a check of the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) system. They scratched my car in 3 places and the best the Service Manager could do was ask me to return the car for detailing - not after they had already treated my car with so little respect. Brown's has an excellent detailing service. These guys are magicians! I took my 1999 Miata MX-5 in for a detailing and what an amazing job they did! My ride looks brand new! Negotiated for 3 days via the Internet. Finally agreed on a price only to find how they reduce the price of their cars is to remove the freight charge and surprise you at the closing. I would not recommend this dealership. Robert specifically will fudge the numbers enough to make you come in there and everything will become a rush, sign this, do that. On top of that, he was not at all friendly with my friend who came with me and asked a few simple questions. Also, be ready to go into the finance guys office (feels like going to the principals office) where you will be man-handled about financing. Overall do NOT recommend.

Anthony Arthur was excellent. The whole team really made us feel welcome and his knowledge was great. He let me take me time in deciding and I went with a White CX-9. It's perfect and runs like a champ. I recommend you go to Brown's in Alexandria, ask for Anthony and let him assist you. I'll strongly consider going back when Mazda releases the Cx-9 with SkyActive tech in a few years (figers crossed because she does drink the gas down).

Horrible dealer!!! My husband and I went to buy a car this past saturday. After about an hour of negotiating, we finally came to a deal. We sign the paper, but had to come back on monday morning to give them a cashiers check. When we called in the morning o comfirm the check amount. They told us they sold it!!!! Total bait and switch operation. lease terms agreed to over the phone, including my putting down a deposit with a credit card. then terms changed when I got there the next day to take delivery. These people will promise the moon to get you into their dealership. Avoid at all costs.

typical bait and switch. First of all they promise you everything. Then when you come back they ask you pay extra $500. Then they back off of written deal, saying that instead of 3 years free oil changes they will give you couple of free oil changes and one tire rotation. At least one salesperson who we delt with still thinks that wearing his 8 thousands dollars ROLEX will make me feel like paying him those extra 500 buck so, he can buy himself a new watch. WAKE up people!!!! ROLEXes and gold chains are things of the past.

Do not trust their used car "126 point inspection" or the word of their salespeople. I investigated this car on-line, spoke to Mike via e-mail and phone, and was told that the Jeep had a working A/C. I flew in to buy it and while I was inspecting the Jeep, I turned on the A/C but could not see the compressor because it was dark and at the bottom of the engine compartment. Absolutely horrible. They were the only dealer in the area to have the car I wanted to buy, and when I went there to seal the deal, they tried to sell me a car that was different from what we had discussed (this one came without side airbags, a totally different trim). I have taken my car more than 7 times because it has a problem with its engine light and raving and they keep fixing the wrong stuff and charging me. Mike is RUDE and WOULD not take complaint seriously.....DON'T take your car to THIS DEALERSHIP!! They will keep your car for days and would not fix the problem.

I bought a Mazda Protege5 from them and shortly after delievery took it in for noisey/faulty brakes... they never fixed it right and I had to take it in 3 more times. they gave me the run-around every time. Allen Care is an idiot and the sales guys pretend to be ignorant when dealing with customers who have legitimate complaints. bought a Mazda Protege5 from them in 2003 which had noisey brakes 3 months after I picked it up. I took it into them 4 times (I have papers to prove it) and they never fixed the problem right... they even tried to charge me for the faulty components and after 12,000 miles tried to tell me that it was no longer covered by warranty. My car taken in for brake work and to check transmission. When we arrived to pick the car up, it had three major dents/scratches, hood warped and doors on passenger side (1999 626) would not open. Mazda 626 brought in for service due to a dangerous intermittent and frequent surging of the engine causing the car to speed up when attempting to stop. Dealer made an extensive diagnosis and charged $545.00 for repairs. Sales staff is great, but service department is another story. I bought a 2002 Mazda Tribute from them back in July 2002. The whole experience was relatively easy. The deal, which was awesome, was done in minutes. I would recommend buying a new Mazda from Browns.<br><br>Service is a different story. I've been bringing my Tribute every 5,000 miles for the correct service.
