2022 Mazda3 Overview

What's New For 2022?

Beyond perhaps a few features being reshuffled throughout the trim level lineup, we don't expect any changes for the 2022 Mazda3. Last year's version introduced a couple new engines, including a more-efficient starting setup rated at less power, and a highly exciting turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers a great deal of pop for a small sedan or hatchback.

Performance and Technology

One way the new Mazda3 stands out in the small car class is with its array of engine options, while most other hatchbacks and sedans offer lone powertrains, or maybe, at most, a single upgrade that's available. You'll start with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder rated at 155 horsepower and delivering up to 36 mpg on the highway. From there, you can bump up to the 2.5-liter four, which upgrades your performance level to 186 horsepower, without a significant drop in fuel efficiency. For truly exciting driving, choose the optional turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder that tops out at 250 horsepower. Some versions also allow the addition of all-wheel drive, a rare find for a small car.

As expected the new Mazda3 is loaded with smart tech, with all sorts of standard and optional infotainment features centered around a central display screen with a rotary knob controller, and plenty of safety features like forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control and more.
